To provide tax reporting, system, and operational support in relation to various tax regulations.

experience and qualifications

  • Minimum Qualification – Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent qualification in Finance or similar field
  • Preferred Qualification – Higher Diploma in Taxation
  • Experience – 3 to 5 years in a similar industry
  • Additional Knowledge – Experience in banking, stockbroking, asset management or similar financial services firms preferred
  • Possession of Tax knowledge and competencies
  • Understand the relevance of FATCA and CRS in a financial institution
  • Have a complete understanding of financial markets and the types of instruments traded
  • Financial knowledge specific to taxes levied on financial instruments
  • Understand the different corporate actions and their impact on tax reporting
  • High-level understanding of tax implications of investing in financial instruments (including withholding taxes and income tax)
  • Understand tax reporting framework of different financial institutions required by SARS
  • Full competency in Microsoft programs particularly Excel
  • The ability to perceive, interpret and translate information (stimuli) to competently perform processes and tasks at various levels of complexity

  • Continuously assess own performance, seek timely and clear feedback and request training where appropriate
  • Provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership
  • Plan for value-added process improvements, initiatives, and services to deliver on operational strategy and objectives and continuously review objectives and goals
  • Ensure correct tax application on transactions
  • Responsible for managing and testing data to enable IT3 data submission to SARS together with testing of related IT3 certificates
  • Determine the correct tax treatment and the subsequent impact on tax reporting and demonstrate innovation on how to process complex corporate actions correctly on the system to achieve accurate reporting
  • Review business rules and relevant business forms and documents to ensure compliance with the latest tax legislative changes
  • Ensure that financial data provided, is in line with SARS requirements and internal reporting deadlines
  • Contribute to the development of a budget aligned to operational delivery plans, monitor effectiveness, and report on variances
  • Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
  • Prevent wastage and identify process improvements to contain and reduce costs
