SAB: General Worker Opportunities

To support development of category strategies within the Indirect procurement categories, which are under the control of the Regional Procurement office. They will then be responsible for the successful execution of these strategies on a zone and where necessary country basis. They will also provide Regional support for categories managed centrally by GPO.

Competence Requirements


  • University Degree or equivalent

Critical skills needed for success in this position:

  • Hands-on procurement / category management experience
  • Basic knowledge on using e-sourcing tools
  • Communicating effectively by conveying information and ideas in English, in a clear, meaningful, and timely manner,

providing information to ensure understanding; solicit inputs and provide open candid conversations

  • Developing collaborative relationships for the purpose of accomplishing work objectives; developing relationships with

other individuals by listening, sharing ideas, and appreciating others’ efforts

  • Languages: English (and Local when applied) as the working language, other languages are an advantage
  • Leadership skills

Preferred skills for this position:

  • Data mining and data preparation experience
  • Experience in FMCG / CPG industry
  • Experience and understanding of sourcing and analytics tools such as Ariba, Emptoris, SAP MM/SRM, advanced MS

Excel, MS Access, Database tools (SQL etc)

  • Experience in being part of dispersed teams

Output and Accountabilities

Support Sourcing Strategy Development

  • Services, Utilities, Leases & Rental Category Management
  • Cross Category Sourcing and Analytical Support
  • Working stores teams to drive efficiencies beyond price
  • Collate all necessary country analytics
  • S2P Optimisation, Drive GRN & PR Efficiencies (Drive Payment on-time efficiencies)
  • Analyse spend and user requirements
  • Conduct market research to assess country dynamics
  • Drive ZBB Savings in the Services, Utilities & Leases & Rental package

Support Sourcing Strategy Execution

  • Ensure readiness across country for strategy execution
  • Escalate where necessary supplier performance issues
  • Handle second level escalations with suppliers/internal stakeholders to resolve performance issues
  • Collaborate with supplier and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of sourcing outputs / agreements
  • Ensure suppliers are correctly enabled through RPSS

Business Environment

  • The creation of a new operating model will transform ABI Procurement Function towards a much higher level of centralization at Regional level


  • This will require a high level of client satisfaction and efficiency at Local and Regional level
  • The Category Manager’ role is responsible in Front Office to holds the responsibility for the successful execution of these strategies on a country basis


  • Main characteristic is to have a close relationship to the local teams (suppliers and stakeholders)
  • Develop business cases/recommendations to establish cost parameters and budgets for all major business transactions within categories across ABInBev Africa Zone


  • Initiate and maintain good quality partnerships with vendors
  • Make professional and sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain day-to-day administrative requirements of the role
  • Support in-country and local procurement teams and sites being managed
  • Maintain good cross functional stakeholder engagement and be able to work with various team members from all levels of the business


  • Examine, challenge, test existing contracts and conduct risk review for all contracts
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company
  • Manage unfavourable events through analysis of data and prepare control/risk mitigating strategies
  • Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement strategies
