||PURPOSE: • To assist Manager with day-to-day management of the mine in area of responsibility. • Responsible for the managing and directing of various activities within a specified section of the mine. • To ensure specified targets are met and allocated resources are used effectively.
||QUALIFICATIONS: • N Dip: Mining Engineering (Essential/Minimum) • Certificate Competency Mine Overseer (Essential/Minimum) • Trade: Miner Underground MQA/QCTO Accred (Essential/Minimum) • Certificate Blasting For Fiery Mines (Essential/Minimum) • Certificate First Line Management (Essential/Minimum) • BEng Mining Engineering (Recommended/Desirable or) • B Tech Mining (Recommended/Desirable) EXPERIENCE: 5 years Relevant experience within a heavy industry, mining or production environment of which at least 2 years specific exposure as Production Foreman or Shift Leader is Recommended Importance: Essential/Minimum Involvement : Operational REQUIREMENTS: • Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) • Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) • MHS Act Regulation 2.14.1(Mine Overseer) (Essential/Minimum)
|Duties & Responsibilities
||The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following: Compliance, Governance and Assurance • Conduct timeous investigations of incidents and ensure adequate remedial action implemented • Execute and drive safety programs • Ensure effective risk management by continuously identifying hazardous activities and mitigation measures Customer and Client Relationship Management • Support core business by ensuring appropriate stakeholder relationships towards enhancing corporate profile • Manage and maintain internal and external client relations, including interface with external providers and other functions to ensure that business needs are met, and employees are satisfied • Provide relevant support and legislative service to applicable stakeholders Effective People Management • Ensure optimized teamwork through motivation/empowerment and leading by sound transformational leadership • Promote teamwork/provide support and manage performance by creating/maintaining individual development plans for subordinates • Enforce discipline within area of responsibility • Ensure all employees are effectively trained and competent to perform required duties in a disciplined manner Financial Support Services • Execute operations within section’s annual budget • Approve relevant contracts and documentation in line with departmental budgetary stipulations • Ensure optimization in cost and production areas Functional Excellence • Adhere to functional policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, end to end processes, tools, templates etc. • Assist in standardising, simplifying and speeding-up functional processes, eliminating duplication/bureaucracy • Apply functional best practices, promote sharing of best practices/knowledge Internal Business Processes • Ensure adherence to planned maintenance schedules • Effectively manage equipment fleet within working environment Process Optimisation • Responsible for meeting mining production targets by adhering to production/maintenance schedules • Attend to breakdowns whilst maintaining set production targets • Ensure optimal use of available resources both people and equipment • Assume responsibility for quality of maintenance work within functional area • Conduct trouble-shooting in order to identify root cause for substandard operating conditions • Complete/process and update all records/related documentation Project Management • Initiate continuous improvement initiatives leading to cost saving opportunities and operational excellence • Liaise with other departments toward evaluating new technologies to improve process capabilities/product quality and throughput requirements • Manage projects with regards to processes, technology and equipment • Evaluate and complete projects with minimum risk, within allocated timeframes and according to specified budgets • Provide input and focus on projects/teams • Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders Safe and Healthy Work Environment • Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations and practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures in line with set standards • Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations Behavioural Alignment Demonstrates the following: • Creativity, collaboration, sociable and awareness to the ecosystem • Stewardship, accountability, ability to develop trust, safety conscious and ethical • Ability to respond quickly to business needs/agility, flexibility, continuous learning, innovation and proven ability to experiment on creative business solutions • Ability to be inclusive, eagerness for multiple skills, embraces multiple cultures, accepts different approaches and be human-centric/empathetic • Results oriented, quality driven, excellence, entrepreneurial abilities, efficient and effective The appointment will be made in accordance with Exxaro’s Employment Equity policy.
