Metallurgical Coal
Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.
Job Description:
Anglo American are sourcing talented, highly capable Mine Geologists to become critical members of their technical teams. As a valued member of the Technical Services team, you will be responsible for providing quality geology services and working collaboratively with the broader mining team to maximise return from the operation.

Qualifications:
- A degree in Geology or other relevant earth sciences
- Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience as a Mine Geologist within an open pit or underground environment
- Coal experience will be highly regarded
- Proficient in the use of mine planning software (Vulcan, AcQuire, Minescape)
- A strong commitment to safety that exceeds industry standards
