About Ruth Titilayo Foundation
The Ruth Titilayo Foundation was established to ensure equal access to education for all children, regardless of their background. The Foundation champions education as a fundamental human right, striving to provide every child with the opportunity to realize their full potential. Ultimately, the foundation aspires to create a world where its services are no longer required, thanks to widespread access to quality education.
The foundation is named in honor of Ruth Titilayo (Iya Taiwo), born in 1955, and an alumna of Abeokuta Girls Grammar School. She continued her education at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, where her dedication to helping the underprivileged took root. The Ruth Titilayo Educational Foundation was established on the 20th anniversary of her passing, preserving her legacy.
Ruth Titilayo Technical & Vocational Scholarship 2024
The Ruth Titilayo Educational Foundation has announced its scholarship programme for the upcoming academic year. Scholarships will be granted for approved courses at Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs) in accordance with the National Board for Technical Education. Selection will be based on academic merit and the information provided in the application.
The scholarship will cover the following awards:
- Tuition allowance of up to ₦50 000
- Maintenance allowance of up to ₦15 000
Additional allowances, such as expenses for course-related travel and research/fieldwork, are subject to the committee’s discretion. The scholarship aims to either fully cover a student’s expenses or provide a valuable contribution.
Candidates who make it to the shortlist will receive invitations to participate in online interviews. During these interviews, they will be presented with a series of competency-based questions that pertain to their current year group. The shortlisted candidates can expect to be contacted starting on January 28, 2024, and the interviews will begin in February 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants are required to meet the specified minimum eligibility criteria before submitting their application. It is important to note that if all the prerequisites are not met, your application will not be taken into consideration.
- You should currently be enrolled in or have plans to enroll in a specific program offered by an accredited Vocational Enterprise Institution (VEI), in accordance with the guidelines set by the National Board for Technical Education.
- You must possess a secondary school transcript with at least four credits.
- Your status should indicate that you are a current student or have been enrolled as a student within the past two years.
