Joe Morolong Local Municipality is an administrative region situated in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District, which is part of the Northern Cape province in South Africa. It was formerly recognized as the Moshaweng Local Municipality. This Category B municipality is primarily characterized by key economic sectors, including Mining, Agriculture, and Community Services.
Assmang Black Rock Mine is situated in the Kalahari Manganese Field, specifically in Hotazel, a locality within the Northern Cape province of South Africa. This mining operation stands as one of the largest manganese reserves in South Africa, boasting approximately 80% of the world’s high-grade manganese resources.
Joe Morolong Assmang Bursary 2024
The Joe Morolong Local Municipality has joined forces with Assmang Black Rock Mine Operations to extend an invitation to students to apply for their bursary program, available for the academic year 2024.
These bursaries are specifically intended for students who reside within the municipal area of Northern Cape and are pursuing undergraduate studies in both Technical and Non-Technical disciplines.
Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, candidates are required to meet the following eligibility criteria. Please be aware that any failure to meet all the stipulated requirements will result in the non-consideration of your application.
- You must have South African citizenship.
- The applicant must be between 17 and 35 years of age.
- You should be a resident within the Joe Morolong Local Municipality, located in the Northern Cape province.
- Completion of Matric or current enrollment in Matric is required.
- You must plan to study or currently be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program, either Technical or Non-Technical, for the year 2024.
- Your studies should be pursued at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa, which includes universities and technikons.
- You must fulfill the minimum admission criteria of your chosen institution and qualification.
- For students pursuing Science-related studies, a minimum level 5 achievement in Mathematics and Physical Science during Matric is necessary.
- For students not pursuing Science-related studies, a minimum overall average of 60% in Matric is required.
- If you are a current student, you should have successfully passed all your subjects and been promoted to the next year of study.
- Financial need and a historically disadvantaged background are prerequisites.
- You should not be receiving any other form of bursary funding or student loans.
- You must not be an employee of Assmang or the Joe Morolong Local Municipality.
