Kirstenbosch Scholarship 2024
About Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden
Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden is situated at the base of Table Mountain in Cape Town. This garden is part of a group of ten National Botanical Gardens that cover five of South Africa’s six distinct biomes. These gardens are managed by the South African National Biodiversity Institute, previously known as the National Botanical Institute.
Kirstenbosch Gardens play a significant role in the preservation of indigenous plants and include a sizable conservatory called The National Botanical Society Conservatory. This conservatory houses plants from various regions, including the savanna, karoo, fynbos, and more. Outdoors, the emphasis is on plants native to the Cape, with a remarkable collection of proteas. The garden is recognized as a level four accredited Arboreta by the Morton Arboretum and the ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program.
