Job Description:

You will be responsible for involving the team leader in proactive planning of daily tasks, as well as correctly mark charge, connect and initiate blasting, in compliance with standard procedure and legal requirements.

  • Ensure that the working areas are safe through inspections and ensure that safety and mining standards are adhered to
  • Ensure that up to date operating standards and procedures are communicated, applied and understood by the team.
  • Manage explosives and prepare blasting area to standard to ensure safe effective blasting.
  • Monitor and correct the process regularly to ensure conformance to and understanding of standards.
  • Execute any reasonable work instruction provided by any senior or team members to ensure the effective completion of a task or safe making of an area.
  • Provide advice to team on the technical requirements to optimise performance.

This role is in the Mining Department at a C2 level reporting to the Shift Supervisor

Qualifications:

The following qualifications and experience is required:

  • Grade 10
  • Blasting Certificate
  • Passed area specific training modules for logistics role at a Crew Captain level in mining
  • Competent A&B certificates

Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience within a mining position in underground hard rock mining
  • Trackless experience in underground hard rock mine and supervisory experience is advantageous

Additional Requirements:

  • Code 08 drivers licence and reliable transport
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Compliance with HSEC systems is essential
  • Fit to work underground
