| Job Summary Statement | Moolmans offers services across the mining value chain, from shaft sinking, underground development, contract mining and open cut mining, to construction of mine infrastructure. The operating group’s experience spans a broad range of commodities and it has worked successfully in remote and challenging locations. Performs work involving the rigging, lifting and moving of large and heavy objects, such as containers and heavy earthmoving equipment machine parts on site. Plan, coordinate and control the set-up, work in progress and completion of specialized tasks and activities associated with rigging and maintenance of lifting equipment. |
| Minimum Requirements | ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: Grade 12. Qualified as Artisan: Certified Rigger (Preferably Section 13) Clean criminal record Valid Drivers’ license EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 3- 5 five years’ related work experience (post qualification) as Rigger in Opencast Mining environment, with comprehensive experience in moving heavy earthmoving equipment. |
| Duties & Responsibilities | Ensure compliance with Organizational Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Standards and Procedures related to rigging and lifting equipment. Comply with all PPE requirements as prescribed. Align, level, and anchor machinery. Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools. Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment. Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use. Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools. Must be able to do rope capping, front ends, back ends. Rope installation and maintenance. Slinging and transporting of heavy materials. Responsible for all legal files, inspections and maintenance of all lifting equipment Responsible to meet all Legal requirements and perform duties related to the position & Legal appointment in terms of the MHSE Act. |
