About BBD

BBD was formed back in 1984 by only three software developers which grew to current 600 software developers, system architects, application designers, digital strategists and IT enthusiasts. The company has its main office in Johannesburg and can also be found in Pretoria and Cape Town as well as Bulgaria and India.

BBD offers software and application development services as well as maintenance and support, IT consulting, UX design and systems integration. The company provides solutions for insurance, banking, telecommunications, public sectors and other industries like media/entertainment and private security. BBD is recognized as a ‘Value Adding Enterprise’ by the South African ICT Charter and has a BB-BEE rating of Level 4.

BBD Bursaries

BBD awards bursary programme for deserving IT students in selected fields of software development (Bachelors/ Honours/ Masters/ Doctorate levels) :

  • Information Technology
  • Computer Science,
  • Computer & Software Engineering,
  • Information Technology and
  • Informatics

Applicants’ academic performance and financial capacity will be reviewed during the selection process.

The bursary will provide coverage of university tuition fees and a monthly allowance for living expenses and incidentals.

Over and above the financial award, students will receive mentorship and have exposure to project work. Once students have graduated, they will also be able to take up permanent employment at BBD.

 

BBD Bursary Requirements and Eligibility

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Studying or preparing to study towards a degree in IT (Computer Science, Computer & Software Engineering, Information Technology, Informatics) at accredited South African institutions
  • Minimum overall academic average of 70%
  • Interest and passion for software development
  • Written & verbal communication skills
  • Proven financial need
