We have an exciting position for a Fitter to perform maintenance on temperature, air-conditioning, refrigeration and air quality control systems and related equipment / machinery in a safe and cost-effective manner to maximise equipment reliability and availability, whilst enabling the achievement of production targets.

We are currently seeking for a Fitter to join our Kumba Iron Ore family. This role will require you to conduct effective maintenance on equipment and related machinery to ensure optimal availability thereby contributing to achievement of production targets. You will be identifying and reporting defects, equipment failures and time required to do repairs to the Supervisor to enable effective planning. Performing equipment maintenance in accordance with SMP (Standard Maintenance Practice) to contribute to the achievement of improved work practices and maintenance efficiencies. This role requires you to conduct effective maintenance on equipment and related machinery to ensure optimal availability thereby contributing to achievement of production targets. Also, you will ensure installations, commissioning of infrastructure and post-installation work testing for functionality and correct installation.

Your responsibility will be to liaise with relevant personnel to arrange assistance regarding resources required (both equipment and people) to ensure successful task execution. You will also need to provide assistance according to own level / area of competence and in accordance with company policies to the Supervisor and co-workers when instructed or during the absence of the responsible person, to ensure achievement of functional objectives and adhere to all health and safety practices, requirements and promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and an environment where team members can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.

This role is at the Engineering Department at a J4 level reporting to the Engineering Supervisor. 

You will be required to have relevant operational experience as a Fitter, Grade 12/Technical Matric, Driver’s Licence: Code B (Light Vehicle) and Fitter Trade Certificate. Previous experience at Sishen mine will be advantageous.
