Dis-Chem is seeking a Qualified Clinic Sister to join their team in Jakaranda. The primary purpose of this role is to manage and operate a profitable, Primary Health Care Clinic within a pharmacy, operating under the scope of a registered nursing practitioner.

Minimum Requirements: Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
  • Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  • Nursing practitioner must obtain Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF) registration
  • 2-3 years’ experience practicing as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Advantageous:

  • Minimum 5 years practicing as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
  • Experience with Patient Record Systems (e.g., CKS, Allegra)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform Clinic Sister duties according to industry regulations and best practices
  • Manage the clinic’s “feet-per-hour” rate and set objectives to enhance patient experience
  • Ensure all clinic services are available and operational
  • Maintain accurate patient records and follow up on communication
  • Operate the clinic according to the stated hours in the business plan
  • Process claims accurately and timeously per industry requirements
  • Maintain clinic stock and equipment in proper working condition
  • Ensure sufficient stock levels in the clinic based on business needs
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including patients, store/dispensary managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and other healthcare professionals

Competencies: Essential:

  • Knowledge of community health nursing, primary healthcare, family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care
  • Commit to quarterly CPD training and in-service training with Dis-Chem
  • Strong written and oral English communication skills
  • Understanding of the financial implications of meeting or not meeting monthly targets
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting monthly clinic statistics and commissions
  • Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial flair, trustworthiness, and honesty
  • Ability to manage a team and self, be self-directed and self-motivated
  • Strong time management skills

  • Certifications in Baby Immunization, Family Planning, Primary Healthcare, Breastfeeding, and Disease Management
