| Duties & Responsibilities | The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following: Equipment Operations and Control • Inspect/repair assets/equipment and surrounding infrastructure • Perform condition monitoring/testing/fault finding/problem solving • Adhere to planned maintenance schedules • Assume responsibility for maintenance/new installations and maintain records • Support maintenance jobs of support personnel • Perform maintenance during breakdowns and shutdowns Inspection and Control • Inspect all tools, equipment and instruments prior to use • Inspect all vehicles/machines/mechanical equipment to identify defects • Report defects immediately • Carry out inspection according to a specific schedule to repair identified defects Material/Resource Planning and Control • Adhere to planned maintenance schedules • Use available resources, both people and equipment optimally • Assume responsibility for quality of maintenance and new installations in functional area • Fill in job cards daily and submit to foreman • Transfer knowledge and give guidance to Artisan Aides/trainees to improve their skills Safe and Healthy Work Environment • Adhere to all health and safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis • Address all unsafe practices and potential hazardous situations, rectify/report to superior • Comply with Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC)/technical requirements • Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times Technical Support • Install wire and maintain lighting and power distribution boards oil switches and protective devices • Locate and repair faults in bearings, brush-holders, etc. • Reconnect armature for different operating voltage or speed • Test stators for insulation break-downs, open short circuits • Install, maintain and repair a variety of electrical systems and equipment • Inspect, maintain and repair exterior wiring including electrical overhead and underground circuits • Measure circuits for defects, using instruments as remedy faults by performing tasks such as replacing defective burnt-out elements, fuses and contacts repairing/replacing switches and tightening loose connections removing shorted circuits • Plan and order parts to minimize production delays due to tool, equipment and instrument failure Behavioural Alignment Demonstrates the following: • Creativity, collaboration, sociable and awareness to the ecosystem • Stewardship, accountability, ability to develop trust, safety conscious and ethical • Ability to respond quickly to business needs/agility, flexibility, continuous learning, innovation and proven ability to experiment on creative business solutions • Ability to be inclusive, eagerness for multiple skills, embraces multiple cultures, accepts different approaches and be human-centric/empathetic • Results oriented, quality driven, excellence, entrepreneurial abilities, efficient and effective The appointment will be made in accordance with Exxaro’s Employment Equity policy.
