| Duties & Responsibilities | POSITION TASKS: The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following: Equipment Operations and Control • Inspect, repair and maintain assets and equipment and surrounding infrastructure • Adhere to planned maintenance schedules • Assume responsibility for maintenance and new installations and maintain records • Maintain conveying systems and cutting systems • Support maintenance jobs of operational personnel • Perform maintenance during breakdowns and shutdowns • Receive, complete and return job cards • Transfer knowledge and give guidance to Artisan Aides and trainees to improve their skills Inspection and Control • Inspect all tools, equipment, instruments prior to use • Inspect all vehicles, machines and mechanical equipment to identify defects • Report defects immediately • Carry out inspection according to a specific schedule to repair identified defects Material/Resource Planning and Control • Adhere to planned maintenance schedules • Use available resources, both people and equipment optimally • Assume responsibility for quality of maintenance and new installations in functional area Safe and Healthy Work Environment • Ensure safety comes first • Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRAs) • Adhere to all health and safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis • Address all unsafe practices, potential hazardous situations and rectify and report to superior • Comply with Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) and technical requirements • Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times Specialised Support • Select and mark required material according to exact measurements on blueprints, drawings or a model • Make parts and fit to machinery • Inspect damaged component parts such as gear boxes • Make parts and fit to machinery • Quality control of mechanical components • Perform standby duties and training of personnel when required • Plan and order parts to minimize production delays due to tool, equipment and instrument failure • Receive, complete and return job cards • Operate the following machines conventional lathe, milling machine, radial arm drill, Boring mill • Operate and program CNC machines: Lathe and milling machines Behavioural Alignment Demonstrates the following: • Creativity, collaboration, sociable and awareness to the ecosystem • Stewardship, accountability, ability to develop trust, safety conscious and ethical • Ability to respond quickly to business needs/agility, flexibility, continuous learning, innovation and proven ability to experiment on creative business solutions • Ability to be inclusive, eagerness for multiple skills, embraces multiple cultures, accepts different approaches and be human-centric/empathetic • Results oriented, quality driven, excellence, entrepreneurial abilities, efficient and effective The appointment will be made in accordance with Exxaro’s Employment Equity policy.
