FITTER/ MECHANICAL ARTISAN

The Beverage Company is a large manufacturing company in the Carbonated Soft Drinks industry. The Group has a national footprint and focuses on quality products for the alternative beverage market.

Operational support

Provide support to the shift-based team during operation.
Provide guidance and advice to the shift based teams on machine operation.
Provide coaching, mentoring and knowledge transfer of machine operation to shift based teams.

Planned and routine maintenance

Execute with vigor the planned maintenance tasks for the Production lines, Utilities and site in accordance with planned maintenance schedules from Shopware.
Take part in maintenance planning and post mortem meetings.
Maintain targets set for completion of work schedules and engineering team viz MTTA, MTTR, MTBF.
Liaise with major role players (Production, Engineering) on any maintenance related issues.
Partake in cleaning, lubrication and inspection in accordance with the maintenance schedule from Shopware.

Machine breakdowns or running repairs

Spontaneously react to machine breakdowns and call-out for assistance where required by following escalation procedure.
Proactive checks/reporting of potential breakdowns.
Carry out running repairs on the plant and equipment.
Complete the administration tasks by documenting all corrective actions taken on machine breakdowns and ensure all asset care shopware inputs are completed.

Problem solving

Apply correct problem solving methodology to resolve problems.
Where required, call additional resources to assist on problem solving and follow escalation procedure.

Health and Safety

Adopt a zero-tolerance to unsafe work practices and adherence to LOTO’s while attending to machinery.
Always operate any equipment in a safe manner.
Ensure compliance to statutory requirements as per the OHS act.
Identify and highlight unsafe work practices for corrective action.
Adhere to appropriate Bevco policies and procedures.
Apply 5S principles during execution of any duties during shift.
Adhere to all housekeeping standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualified Trade Tested (at accredited training facility)
Knowledge and experience of working in a production environment particularly in FMCG or packaging industry.
2-5 years maintenance experience of which 2 years’ (minimum) within an FMCG or Packaging industry (Beverages highly advantageous).
Can Line experience including knowledge of seaming process advantageous.
Computer literate (intermediate) on CMMS package (Shopware advantageous).
Prepared to work shifts, and overtime as required.
