About Gold Circle

Formed as a result of merging three of South Africa’s top racing clubs (the Clairwood Turf Club, the Durban Turf Club and the Pietermaritzburg Turf Club), the Gold Circle is one of the key players in running thoroughbred horse racing in South Africa.

The organization believes that education is the key to unlocking true empowerment and therefore is a committee to unleash the power of education among the South African youth. They wish to assist South African youth to pursue formal education and motivate them toward a bright future through job motivation, lucrative job opportunities and career advancement paths.

Gold Circle Bursary Programme 2023

Gold Circle is providing bursaries for Degree, Certificate and Diploma studies in fields considered critical by Gold Circle. The Gold Circle Bursary Programme aims to provide financial assistance to meritorious, academically bright students coming from economically challenged backgrounds.

The Gold Circle Bursary will cover the expenses of compulsory prescribed textbooks, registration fees and tuition fees.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to apply for the bursary.

  • Must be a South-African citizen with age between 15-35 years old
  • The candidate must have completed Matric scoring a minimum average of 65%
  • The candidate must be studying or willing to study a degree, certificate and diploma course
  • The candidate must be studying or applied to an accredited and recognized Higher Educational institution in South Africa
  • If the candidate is currently studying, then they must achieve a minimum of 65% in their latest examination
  • The applying candidate must be in need of financial assistance

Apart from the above-mentioned criteria for Gold Circle Bursary Programme 2023, there are other criteria for children/wards for non-employee and employees of Gold Circle

For non-employees of Gold Circle

  • Preference will be given to candidates coming from disadvantaged backgrounds (Coloured, Indian, Black People as well as people with disabilities, youth and women)
  • The gross family income should not be more than R180 000 per annum
  • Evidence of financial assistance required should be provided

For children/wards of employees of Gold Circle or its subsidiary companies

  • The employee should not earn more than R180 000 per annum
  • Employees must have the minimum employed tenure of a year without any breaks
  • Evidence of financial assistance required should be provided

Documents Required

Applicants need to submit the following documents to apply for the bursary programme.

  • Certified copy of your ID documents
  • Statement of results/ matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Recent academic results including the latest transcripts
  • Physical address proof (certified copy)
  • Bank statements for the recent three months (certified copy)
  • Proof of income: If employed, the latest payslips and if self-employed, bank statements and financial statements are required (certified copy)
  • ID documents of parents/ guardians/ spouses (certified copy)
  • Proof of income of parents/ guardians/ spouses; Recent 3 months bank statement (certified copy)
  • If deceased, their death certificated and if divorced, then their divorce certificate (certified copy)
  • Proof of application of registration to accredited and recognized South African Higher education institution preferably on their letterhead
  • Submission of a motivational letter to support the application
  • Letter of reference from a credible source

Closing Date

The last date for submission of the application is 31 January 2023. Candidates are requested to apply within the given date.
