Job Description

The Reception Manager is responsible for the overall management of the reception area and reception staff. He/She will also be responsible for the admissions and discharge of patients in a professional, friendly and timeous manner as well as creating and maintaining goodwill with doctors and liaison with nursing staff regarding bed bookings.

 

Key Work Output & Accountabilities

  • Ensure employees admit patients in a professional, orderly manner
  • Ensure employees collect deposits and surcharges where applicable
  • Checking admission forms to ensure that they are correct
  • Liaise with doctors regarding Theatre list and diagnostics
  • Liaise with nursing employees regarding bed bookings
  • Ensure employees discharge patients in a professional, orderly manner
  • Ensure employees collect outstanding monies due by private patients and co-payments from medical aid patients
  • Ensure correct procedures are adhered to on all systems
  • Implementation, monitoring and maintenance of all reception systems controls
  • Compliance with Group policy and procedures
  • Kronos system checked weekly/monthly
  • Ensure that correct procedures are followed with the banking/cashing up in Reception
  • Ensure the drop register is correct and complete
  • Ensure that ordering of stationery is done timeously
  • Ensure all Reception KPI’s are met on a monthly basis
  • To ensure a smooth work flow in reception at all times
  • Overall management of the Reception team and performance thereof
  • Resolve patient queries in a professional manner
  • Develop talented leaders and high performers
  • Implement strategic plans and objectives through effective recruiting, training, motivation and evaluation of staff
  • Manage and assess employee performance
  • Assign decision making authority and task responsibility appropriately in order to maximise organisation and employee effectiveness
  • Facilitate effective change and conflict management
  • Assume responsibility for own personal and professional development
  • Keep up to date with Netcare’s evolving policies and procedures
  • Adhoc tasks when required

 

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 Qualification
  • Qualification in Administration preferable
  • Related tertiary qualification preferable
  • Management qualification preferable

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years managerial experience within a Hospital Reception environment
  • Working knowledge of SAP ISH is necessary
  • Extensive knowledge of Medical Aids
  • Computer literate
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of stakeholder relationship management
