Job DescriptionParmalat Africa is part of the French international dairy company Lactalis and is one of the major players in the Southern African dairy industry. It has operations in South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Swaziland and Mozambique. The main responsibilities of the Production Artisan in Blue Mould will include production of the Blue Mould product – all 3 variants. Further the Production Artisan role will act as 2IB for the production coordinator and will therefore play a vital role in maintaining a positive working culture within the production environment. Required SkillsThe ideal candidate would adhere to the company Employment Equity Plan and will currently be employed within the Dairy Industry and will actively partake in a cheese making process. The following critical requirements are key selection criteria: • Recognised completed dairy manufacturing NQF 4 qualification • At least 2 – 3 years’ experience within the dairy cheese manufacturing environment • Good interpersonal and communication skills • Excellent problem solving skills • Good technical knowledge of cheese making equipment • Computer literate • Willingness to work, weekends, shifts and public holidays • Attention to detail is very crucial for the role.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesSpecific key performance areas include the following: • Manage and control the production process pertaining to production of Blue Mould product • Ensure that all product meet quality specifications, speedily report all deviances and initiate resolution • Analyse production results, identify problem areas and rectify to optimize and meet or better the goals on yields, grading and quality results on a daily basis. • Ensure accurate and timeous completion of all production records which includes and is not limited to logs and check sheets • Be able to effectively and accurately communicate and report on all plant specific levels of authority • Actively partake in all product quality investigations and activities • Work closely with Production Coordinator to ensure all budget targets are met • Lead, coach and discipline subordinates where appropriate • Administration of daily cycle counts • Act as 2IB for Blue Mould (packaging and production) and Milk reception departments • Participate in company driven programs such as: Continuous Business Improvement system, NOSA, FSSC 2200
