Petra Diamonds: Learnership Programme 2022 / 2023

Finsch Diamond Mine is located in the town of Lime Acres which is situated 100km Northwest of Kimberly and 109km south of Kuruman in the Northern Cape.

1. Trades

Applications are invited from interested candidates to be trained in the following Trades

•  Fitter
• Diesel Mechanic
• Electrician
• Rigger

Minimum Requirements: 

• Grade 12 or equivalent (with Mathematics and Physical Science) AND  in possession of a full 2 Certificate in relevant Trade Theory
• Must be in possession of a valid Code EB (08) Driver’s License
• Engineering experience in a Mining environment will be an added advantage
• Good verbal and written communication in English and sound interpersonal skills

2. The Learnership programmes require that prospective female candidates be able to perform physical work in elevated areas and confined spaces in the Ore Processing Plant

• Grade 12 with Maths / N2 Maths or equivalent (Not Maths Literacy) and (Science will be advantageous) Ability to communicate effectively in English Computer literacy

• Show initiative Self-motivated

Computer Literate Shortlisted candidates will be required to successfully undergo the following prior to final selection:

• Panel Interview
• Must be able to obtain an on mino Certificate of Fitness
• A technical aptitude evaluation Psychometric assessment
• Vienna assessment
• Security clearance

Training will be over a four-year maximum period, which will also entail +1.16.20 weeks per year at an accredited Mining Qualifications Training Centre as determined by Finsch Diamond Mine. Candidates must be residents of the Finsch Mine Labour Sending Areas (Kgatelopelo Municipality) (Please attach proof to confirm your residential status).
