Extrusion Slitter Operator | Manufacturing – FMCG | eThekwini – Durban

Salary: R8-10k per month, including Benefits

Purpose of Position:

Complement Recruitment are recruiting for a Extrusion & Slitter Operator for a FMCG Manufacturing client based in eThekwini, Durban North, close to Pietermaritzburg. Candidates must have prior experience in the plastics industry – non negotiable

• • Matric- Non-Negotiable & Technical/Trade advantageous
  • Role will require slitter operators who have worked on smaller slitting machines.
  • 2-5 years’ experience will be required.
  • Production and slitting knowledge will be essential and questions asked will be relating to quality defects on the slitting machine, knowing the slitting process, knowing weights of the manufacturing & jumbo rolls they slit, how many rolls are slit per day and production output per day, how many knives/blades in the machines, how many rolls can one jumbo slit, diameters of cores that are used etc.
  • Position is based close to Pietermaritzburg – permanent position with benefits
  • Attitude; Communication skills and knowledge will be measured in the interview.

Other General Info Candidates must know:

• • What slitting machines are they familiar with (names of the machine)
  • Are the machines chuck or arm?
  • Weight of 1 jumbo; No of jumbos slit per shift
  • How many rolls can be slit from one jumbo
  • Therefore based on the above 3 questions, the operator needs to be able to determine the production output in weight (ie. If one jumbo is 250kg and they slit 5 jumbo’s per shift then the production output per shift is 1250kg)
  • Measurement questions like how many kg’s in 1 ton, convert 1250kg into tons
  • Width of the machine; How many blades / knives in the machine
  • Diameter of the paper cores (in inches)
  • Quality defects that come out of the slitting machine (should be answers like star marks, wrinkling etc)
  • How many rolls are slit per day and per shift

Packaging Operator – Durban

  • Ability to work under pressure, seeking reliable & hardworking candidates in this department.
  • Candidates must have 5-10 years of senior machine operating experience.
  • They must have operated a slitting machine greater than 6 meters in width,
  • Production and slitting knowledge will be essential and questions asked will be relating to quality defects on the slitting machine, knowing the slitting process, knowing weights of the manufacturing & jumbo rolls they slit, how many rolls are slit per day and production output per day, how many knives/blades in the machines, how many rolls can one jumbo slit, diameters of cores that are used etc.
  • Attitude; Communication skills and knowledge will be measured in the interview.

  • Minimum requirements for this position is 5 years or more extrusion operator experience in the food; manufacturing and production industry on packaging machinery and equipment

  • Attitude; Communication skills and knowledge will be measured in the interview.
