| Job Description | Are dedicated to “egg-ceeding” expectations? RCL FOODS is looking for Assistant Farmers to join our Rearing & Laying Team at Cobb East London. This position will report to the Farm Manager. The purpose of this role is to assist in the monitoring of the day to day activities at the farm and act as the Farm Manager in the absence of the Farm Manager. |
| Minimum Requirements | Minimum Grade 12 is required relevant qualification will be an advantage. Code 10 driver’s license would be an advantage. Minimum of 3 years’ relevant poultry experience. Staff Supervisory and leadership experience. Ability to work shift work/ standby/overtime and in quarantine. Must be able to live on site. Strong people management skills. Attention to detail and Good analytical skills Willing to work a continuous operation. |
| Duties & Responsibilities | Farm management: daily management of the farm activities which includes feeding, housekeeping, water management and ventilation. Chick/Bird management: ensure that the chicks are reared according to COBB STD/ birds produced and exceed COBB STD in mortality, TEHH, HEHH and CHH. Pay attention to detail on male and female management. Biosecurity and Farm sanitation – Maintaining an effective biosecurity programme by practicing good hygiene, vaccination and disease prevention. Bird Health – Daily monitoring and activity of birds, sending of Samples to the laboratory as per VCD; Record Keeping – Keep the documentation files updated for ISSO Audits, health and safety files; house chart/daily records; rodent control. Staff management – Keep and update daily registers, MDWT’s, disciplinary records, training records; review meetings, must have good and strong leadership skills. Create the next generation of leaders through training and coaching of your assistants. |
