About Rumdel Cape

Rumdel, also known as Rumdel Construction (Cape) (Pty) Ltd is a private, multi-disciplinary civil engineering construction firm. It is located in Eastern Cape and runs all across South Africa. The company excels in undertaking and successfully delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure projects such as dams, roads, incrementally aloft interchanges or bridges, runways, and so on.

The Construction Industry Development Board has accredited Rumdel a Category 9 CE grade in South Africa, which makes it eligible to undertake any size of Civil engineering project. Rumdel complies with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 and has exclusive certification for its Integrated Management systems.

Rumdel has the capacity to take on an extensive range of civil engineering construction projects. Recently in 2009, the company completed Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the road connecting Langeni and Ugie, Easter Cape, South Africa. The combined value of the project was R 1.2 billion and both phases were completed concurrently.

Rumdel Cape Bursary 2023

In 2004, Rumdel Construction Cape Ltd. started its Bursary Programme exclusively to aid talented students within South Africa to take on tertiary studies. This Bursary is awarded to deserving candidates every year, such that Rumdel has funded over 11 students to date who now work as employees with Rumdel Cape.

Furthermore, 13 students are currently studying in Universities in South Africa.

The Rumdel Bursary Programme was established to motivate future talent and to explore the full potential of construction endeavors across the country and beyond. The bursary is designed for full-time study for skilled students with leadership qualities.

Rumdel Construction also offers leadership and mentorship courses where you will be trained in special skills such as operational and management skills by accredited professionals.

Rumdel Cape invites students to apply for Bursary Programme 2023 awarded for studies in Civil Engineering qualification. It covers the following expenses:

• Tuition fees
• Textbooks
• Accommodation
• Stationery requirements

This bursary is awarded based on leadership abilities, academic records, initiative, and business intellect. After graduation, students will be entering into a work-back/service contract with Rumdel Cape where they will be employed for 1 year per year funded. This is to “pay off” the bursary provided.

The successful candidates will also have the opportunity to opt for Rumdel Cape’s Vacation Work that commences during June-July and December-January holidays. Through this vacation work, students will be honing their on-site experience and skills which is necessary to complete the degree.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must abide by the following eligibility criteria to apply for the Rumdel Cape Bursary Programme 2023:

• Must be a citizen of South Africa
• Has a valid South African ID Card
• Completed Matric degree
• Must study or intend to study full-time for Civil engineering qualification
• Opt for an accredited and recognized tertiary University in South Africa
• Have leadership abilities
• Have good academic records

Students must submit clear copies of the below-given documents:

• ID document (certified copy)
• Matric certificate (certified copy)
• Complete Tertiary academic record (on the letterhead of the institution)
• Detailed Curriculum Vitae
• Motivation letter
• Reference letter from the student’s tertiary institution or school (signed) with the contact details of the referee
