About SAMNET Bursary Fund

The South African Muslim Network (SAMNET) is an organization that represents the interests of the South African Muslim communities. Founded in the year 2009, one of its main objectives is to establish an integrated, empowered, and flourishing society through selfless services as reflected in the principles of Ukhuwah, Ujima, and Ubuntu.

To further the cause, they formed the SAMNET Bursary Fund after receiving many requests from the community to provide aid to students who have financial difficulties in funding their studies, especially in the fields of Studies, Media, Political Science, Journalism, and related fields.

SAMNET offers bursaries to students in the following fields:

  • Journalism
  • Communications
  • Political Science
  • Media studies
  • Other related fields

The bursary mainly only covers tuition fees. Candidates who will qualify for the bursary will get contacted. For applicants who haven’t received any feedback from SAMNET, this means that their application wasn’t successful.

SAMNET Bursary Fund 2021 Requirements and Eligibility

Before applying for the bursary, interested applicants should satisfy the following criteria.

  • Must be a citizen of South Africa
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must study or intends to study within one of the fields of study mentioned above
  • Must study or intends to study at one of the recognised tertiary institutions in South Africa
  • Must be in financial need and cannot pay for their studies
  • Must have eligibility for Zakat

The failure to meet all of these requirements will lead to the application getting disregarded.

How to Apply and Application Details

Applicants who meet the minimum criteria must send an email to [email protected] to request a copy of the application form. Applicants must include a short introduction about who they are, what they studied, and the institute they studied at. Applicants should also submit the following:

  • A certified true copy of the applicant’s ID
  • Proof of tertiary application or registration and qualifications for 2021

Applicants should prepare all of these documents together with the accomplished application form before the deadline.
