Period: Six (06) Months Fixed-Term Contract

Remuneration: R4 500.00 per month (stipend)

Requirements:

An appropriate 4 year Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification as recognized by SAQA. Current registration with the South African Council for Social Professions (SACSSP). At least 2 years of experience working with schools to provide counselling and support learners in their education.

Job Purpose:

Render professional and effective guidance to support schools to render care, support and protection to vulnerable in line with the implementation of HIV/AIDS life skills Education programme and Care and Support for teaching and learning (CSTL) programme. Provide learner support agents monitoring and support services at both secondary schools and their feeder primary schools for consistent learner development throughout grades progression.

Skills: 

Good writing skills that will enable the incumbent to compile reports. Good communication, listening, and problem-solving skills. The computer is literate in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (for work-related purposes). Ability to work with learners, educators and stakeholders. ability to work individually and as a team. knowledge and understanding of human behavior, social systems, and skills to intervene to appoint where people interact with their environment in order to promote their well-being. People management and empowerment skills. information and knowledge management skills. Knowledge of programme and project management skills.

Duties :

Work in collaboration with both HIV/AIDS life skills and Psychological services Co-ordinators in the District collect and record learners’ barriers to learning baseline information at identified high burden schools provide leadership to learner support agents in schools and ensure that they fulfill their job prescripts. work with school-based support teams (SBST) to screen and identify vulnerable learners and development plans to support them Establish nd manage networks with local stakeholders that support the provision fo care and support for learners provide guidance and counseling to learners who are experiencing or haven exposed to trauma. Attend and participate in various local stakeholders meeting including District learner support team meetings. Provide orientation training to the LSAs based in schools. consolidate monthly and quarterly LSAs District reports.
