MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Pulper operation      

  • To ensure that the clamp truck is always in a good working condition
  • Operates clamp truck to load HW and SW bales onto the PM5 conveyor
  • Operates clamp truck to assist with moving wadding in the Warehouse
  • Achieves required production rates without compromising on quality or producing excessive reject material
  • Participates in shut down activities on PM5

Record keeping        

All necessary production records are completed:

  • To complete accurate records of fibre mix being used

Housekeeping          

Day store, PM5 conveyor, pulper area and surrounding areas kept clean:

  • Periodically cleans these areas

Maintenance 

The clamp truck, conveyor and associated equipment maintained in a safe and efficient

condition:

  • Attends to all autonomous maintenance
  • Reports any maintenance required to Shift Production Lead

Health and safety     

No accidents, injuries or incidents occur resulting in or having the potential to result in loss to the company or fellow workers.

  • Adheres to all company rules, safe work procedures and internal departmental procedures concerning health and safety
  • Reports to his Shift Production Lead any defects or incidents noticed that are unsafe or might result in an accident or unnecessary loss

Teamwork     

Participates as a shift team member

  • Co-operates with the Coordinator and Shift Production lead and fellow shift team members
  • Follows all reasonable instructions received from the Coordinator, Shift Production lead or more senior managers

REQUIREMENTS

Formal Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or N3 with mathematics and physical science

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Two (2) year’s work experience in stock preparation and or paper-making environment
  • Overhead crane and forklift/clamp licenses

Personal Attributes/Qualities:

  • Natural aptitude for mechanical principles and systematic thinking
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Good communication and inter personal skills

Working Conditions

  • Shift work.
  • Work at heights
  • High noise, dust and heat environment
  • Physically demanding – especially during shuts

Relation to Others:

  • Reports directly to the Coordinator; works closely with the Shift Production Leaders and Machine Operators and takes instructions from them.
  • Work with the cleaning crew, chemical suppliers and engineering artisans (where required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physically healthy to be able to perform repetitive strenuous tasks
