MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
Must be fully proficient in terms of his/her ability to carry out and assist other artisans in maintenance, diagnosis and fault repair as well as to perform authorised modifications. Must be willing to work shifts, additionally some weekend work is required. Must be in possession of a valid SA driver’s license and must have his/her own transport.
Skills & Knowledge:
- PLC and relay control circuit fault-finding.
- Electrical fault-finding on e.g. motors, conveyors, DBs etc.
- Proper interpretation of electrical schematic diagrams and their altering when necessary.
- Knowledge of photo electric and proximity switches is essential.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems.
- Basic computer literacy.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Attend to and maintain plant production equipment.
- Responsible for ensuring that preventative planned maintenance is performed in a cost-effective way to ensure minimum downtime and product losses.
- Maintenance of electrical equipment on production lines and high-speed packaging lines.
- Maintenance of electrical systems and components.
- Fault finding and repair of electrical equipment.
- Construction of new electrical equipment in plants.
- Handle breakdowns effectively and timeously.
- Accurate completion of administrative forms and the use of Enterprise Resource Planning software.
Qualifications criteria:
- Completed Matric with Mathematics and Science on Higher Grade
- Minimum N3 completed certificate in Electrical field (Will consider qualifications between N3 & N4)
- Must have a completed Electrician trade test with a completed registered apprenticeship of min of 3 years and maximum of 4 years. (NQF and NCV 4 trade certificates will not be accepted)
- Minimum 3 years’ post trade test experience as an Electrical Artisan in an FMCG environment.
