| Job Summary Statement | Moolmans offers services across the mining value chain, from shaft sinking, underground development, contract mining and open cut mining, to construction of mine infrastructure. The operating group’s experience spans a broad range of commodities and it has worked successfully in remote and challenging locations. JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: To manage the execution of the required work within the project schedules and contractual agreements, ensuring technical excellence and effective coordination of the respective staff within the project team. Plan, direct, coordinate, or budget, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation |
| Minimum Requirements | ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: • Degree/ National Diploma – Mining Engineering (preferred) • Opencast Blasting Certificate • Additional blasting related training and / or qualifications will be advantageous. • Police Clearance Certificate EXPERIENCE: • At least ten years’ experience in Drilling and Blasting • Train, develop and empower sub-ordinates with drill and blast practices |
| Duties & Responsibilities | • Establish and build good client relationships • Ensure financial management and costing adhered to project plan • Plan, organize and monitor the Drilling and Blasting process. • Plays a key role in all people management processes • Responsible for ensuring all administrative requirements are met • Ensure compliance to Safety and Quality policies, procedures and standards. • Comply with all PPE requirements as prescribed • Ensure compliance with organizational safety, health, environment and quality standards and procedures • Report any accident / incident immediately to your supervisor • Overall effectiveness of the blasting function on site • Produce and improve approved drill and blast design pattern. • Ensure that the Drill and Blast drill note and drill plan is ready for every pattern before Drill and Blast operation. • Ensure quality control of blast patterns through (but not limited to) monitoring compliance to the designed • Drill pattern and over inspect hole depths drilled to ensure quality and accuracy. • Ensure that sufficient blasting related accessories are available for his crew, order items when out of stock. • Responsible to control and discipline all employees under your control. • Ensure optimized blasting results and continuous improvement. • Monitor, measure and document blast results • Manage the blasting process to meet schedule requirements. • Manage blasting accessories, tools and explosives supplier(s) as well as blasting crew. |
| Knowledge Skills & Abilities | • Business Aptitude – The ability to drive profits, exceed targets and minimize losses. • Technical Aptitude – The capacity for using specific knowledge, tools or other equipment to enhance performance. • Strong computer literacy in the following: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, blast design software. Knowledge of Xpac / Surpac will be an advantage. • Vast knowledge of an Open Cast Mining Operation. • Vast knowledge of blasting procedures, laws, regulations and blast management. • Good communication skills and solid knowledge of IR Procedures |
