About ESRI South Africa

ESRI is a geographic information system (GIS) software vendor serving clients globally. The South African subsidiary is called ESRI South Africa and offers GIS products to several businesses in the country.

ESRI is the sole distributor of ArcGIS range of software products in South Africa. The main product is a powerful mapping and spatial analytics software. Businesses use it to solve complex problems in real-time.

The company has founded the ESRI South Africa College to train and educate students on the latest technology trends in spatial engineering. The college offers certifications, diplomas, and various e-learning courses to eligible students.

GIS & T Bursary 2022

The company offers bursaries to a certain number of students each year who want to make a career in geoinformatics. The bursaries are for students who wish to pursue a Diploma in Geoinformation Science and Technology.

The course is accredited by the South African Geomatics Council. It consists of 36 modules that teach you how to plan, build, and implement a GIS from scratch.

For the academic year 2022, ESRI will select five students based on merit. It will pay for their course fee for the complete duration of the study programme. You can find more information about the diploma programme by visiting this link.

The location of the study is at ESRI South Africa College, Midrand. As part of the bursary commitment, students will have to work part-time at the company as and when required.

They’d have to work on the following:

  • Database services
  • Cartography
  • Implementation services
  • Educational services
  • Client solutions
  • Consulting services
  • Application development

Thus, it will prepare you to join the workforce after graduating from the programme. The company will also offer employment opportunities to certain candidates.

Bursary Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the bursary, you need to meet the eligibility criteria laid out by ESRI. You must fulfill all the criteria. Since the school receives hundreds of applicants and there are only five bursaries on offer, it rejects those that do not meet all the requirements.
