Rhodes Trust Scholarships for Southern Africa 2022

The Rhodes Scholarships is considered as the oldest and foremost fellowship in the world and has been supporting scholars since 1903. Close to 1,000 young South African students have been given the opportunity to receive funding as they pursue their postgraduate qualification at Oxford University.Rhodes Trust Scholarships

The scholarship grant covers study-related expenses and provides a stipend for a period of two to three years in pursuit of any postgraduate programme offering at Oxford. About 20% of Rhodes scholars are black, half of which are black indigenous, or  people of color. This is in line with Oxford’s goal of expanding the diversity of its postgraduate population, particularly its Black student populace. As of 2020, 19 African students are chosen each year to receive a scholarship grant, with the aim of increasing this number to 32. Rhodes Thrust is continuously working to increase the endowment to be able to support more scholarships in East and West Africa.
