  • The Actuarial Society of South Africa welcomed 52 new Fellow Actuaries into the profession in 2019, with 17 of them being Wits graduates, the most from any single university in South Africa, as well as the most demographically diverse.
  • Minister of Health Zweli Mkhize named Wits Professor Johnny Mahlangu as Chairperson of the South African Medical Research Council’s board of directors in 2019.

  • All other University programs will end on September 30, 2022.

How To Apply To Wits 

  1. Choose your programs at www.wits.ac.za/applications/.
  2. Please upload any supporting papers.
    • Matriculants Currently enrolled: Upload your Grade 11 results in their final form. Your results must be confirmed and stamped by your school.
    • Already Matriculated? Upload certified copies of all of your matric/foreign school leaving certificates. Hand deliver, registered mail, or courier a physical/hard copy of the original certified certificates to the Wits Student Enrolment Centre (SEnC), Ground Floor, Solomon Mahlangu House (Senate House), Wits University.
    • Other Higher Education Institutions: For ALL tertiary registrations, upload a certified copy of academic records, including a a statement/certificate of good behavior stamped by the institution’s registrar.
  3. Payment of the application fee
  4. Send in your application.
  5. Use the self-service site to get started.
  6. If you’re chosen, you’ll have to decide whether to accept or reject the offer.
  7. The University will send you an email acknowledging receipt of your application. A person’s phone number will be included in the acknowledgement email.

  • For South African nationals, there is a non-refundable application fee of R100.
  • R700 non-refundable application cost for foreign nationals
  • Payments must be made before the deadlines.
  • As a reference, use your T Number of Person Number.

Additional Forms And Selection Procedures 

  • NBTs are required for all BSc, Health Sciences, Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, and Social Work applicants.
  • On or before August 14, 2022, Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology applicants, as well as Health Science applicants, must take the NBT.
  • Applicants for social work must take the NBT by October 31, 2022.
  • Both NBT tests are required for BSc applicants.
