On the Dot, a prominent subsidiary of Media24 based in Gauteng, is on the lookout for a dynamic and energetic Demand Planner/Product Manager. This role, reporting to the Category Manager, is an exciting opportunity for a professional to join our Johannesburg team and drive growth through strategic demand forecasting and client management.

Main Purpose of the Role

As the Demand Planner/Product Manager, you will forecast supply needs based on historical sales data, manage accounts, and maximize revenue. Your role will involve a deep understanding of South Africa’s geographic areas and the publication market to achieve predetermined targets and circulation goals.

Key Outputs

Demand Planning and Sales Management:

  • Conduct detailed forecasting to ensure accurate supply planning.
  • Analyze sales trends and adjust forecasts to align with market conditions.
  • Collaborate with the Category Manager to review sales performance and manage day-to-day operations.
  • Report on sales opportunities, promotions, and manage back copies and special requests.
  • Coordinate with various departments to optimize publication service and minimize costs.

Client Management:

  • Prepare and deliver sales proposals and presentations to clients.
  • Monitor competitors, maintain the client database, and build strategic client relationships.
  • Provide exceptional client service and manage existing business growth.

Account Growth and Development:

  • Assist in growing smaller accounts into key accounts and implement tailored solutions.
  • Develop account plans in line with the overall strategy and generate new business opportunities.

Administrative and Operational Efficiency:

  • Maintain accurate administrative records and be proficient in software packages, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrate effective time-management skills and attention to detail.

Logistical and Technical Management:

  • Use software tools to finalize publication requirements and handle logistical aspects.
  • Work closely with the Retail department to develop supply strategies.

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary education in sales, marketing, or logistics.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a sales/target-driven environment with account management.
  • Proficiency in relevant software packages and a strong understanding of sales strategies.
